Although under the limit, she said she felt terrible
What are your reaction times like the morning after though, even if still over the limit? Presumably by which time other drink related symptoms such as feelings of invincibility/omnipotence, world's best driver/singer and attractiveness to women, etc, have waned a bit.

I imagine the reaction times would be still be bad. If I feel hungover - I don't drive.

If you are not 100% sure you are legal, you are taking a risk

You could be 100% sure and still wrong.

which takes us right back to the OP question.
Are we aware of the issue and what do we do about it?

Count your units, and remember when you stopped drinking* and add 30 minutes per unit. If you're still inside that time, don't drive - simples.

                  * if you can't remember when you stopped drinking, just take it from the time you realised you couldn't remember when you stopped drinking.

How about if you have to drive early the next day, you don't drink/drink moderately the evening before? FFS. Doh!
