How is the concept of intelligence fluid? - I have always seen it in terms of an ability to learn when presented with a new situation and that does not really change.

I agree that there is a cultural limitation to the tests that are currently conducted.

There would be no point giving the tests that I was given to a nomadic tribesman in Africa because the tests require a level of numeracy and literacy that intelligence itself doesn't.

Within a western population with compulsory education that is less of a concern.

I don't actually know any Mensa members - I declined the invitation to join because when I read through their magazine I thought that they looked like a bunch of non-achieving misfists

Again, could you apply that criteria to our African tribesman?

In my experience, people who are hung up on what their IQ is tend to have "personalities" that make you wish to spend time with someone else.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

I agree with the rest of what you're saying, but in this respect the comparison is OK as long as you use local criteria. An African tribesman may well be very accomplished in tracking and hunting, capable of maintaining a considerable herd of cattle, adept at trading with other tribes and an all round good egg who helps out in the community and has lots of chums. I'd call him a clever chap.

I am suprised that no one has made the connection with brain-case size. On average, men are bigger than women and therefore, on average the have bigger brains. Therefore, on average, men are more intelligent than women.

                  Shame about the BO, though.

As many women before me have no doubt commented to you.
Its not the size, its what you do with it that counts.
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

When did you say that to EO? Before or after?
