I was lucky because when they came round they couldn't remember what happened or who did it. Or didn't say. They left me alone after that anyway

You could also hang up a large banner at the entrance to the school and visible from the road that says ‘disabled children get bullied here’.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

        you are mad.

Seeing what is happening, minute by minute in one of our 'schools', would drive any parent over the edge. He would resign his job, sell up, and go to live on Pitcairn island or somewhere

Exactly my thoughts. Does your son not have a friend looking out for him, Tony? I know peer pressure in school can cause a certain amount of herd mentality amongst kids but I also can't believe that no-one in the class has noticed that "the blind kid is being picked on".

Plenty of kids I went through school with would have kicked the crap out of anyone holding a door shut in front of a blind person.

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Tell the school you're contacting the local newspaper if things don't change. If that doesn't work... contact your local newspaper.

As I said before, this is the first we'd heard about this last night and because my son can't see he doesn't know who it is other than the kid has the same voice. Because he has to leave lessons early to make his way to the next one he is on his own and the 'support' meet him at the other end of his journey. I have asked him to tell his 'support' to follow him around at a distance to see if they can see what is going on.

Personally I'd be quite happy to follow him about and sort things out myself but I suspect that I could stir up even more trouble. I find it amazing that somebody can be so cowardly to pick on an 11 year old kid who is totally blind.

Thats the thing, they are bloody cowards!

Tony, I think if I were you, I'd get in touch with the school - and I don't mean by letter!

I expect you would be prosecuted for filming inside a school without permission.

As others have said, a friend who can keep an eye on him is probably your best hope to catch the miserable scrote.

I wouldn't get over the top at this point..... You have done the right thing by writing to the Head (although I suspect you wanted to storm down and start banging desks etc straight away).......

Give him/her time to respond.... but only until say Monday ("they" supposedly take bullying very seriously so should respond very quickly)
In the meantime (over weekend) try to get more/as much info as possible from your son......
                      Follow up (on Monday)
"they" will say they are investigating.....
ask them to explain what they actually mean!!!
get the name of the "investigator" (ie don't let them fob you off)
state your expectations/assumptions for when they "find" the culprit
(don't let them fob you off with "we have sorted it")
tell them you will expect an update daily (they won't like this as they want to let it die down so they can forget and then say "we sorted it")
Keep calm ie It WON'T help if you start shouting the odds and threatening to break culprits legs/his dad legs etc (even if you want to/feel like it).

                      Good luck

PS I would also raise a (seperate) issue with the Head about the initial "what can I do about it" response
