Usually applied to those working in areas where work can easily be distributed to other remaining employees, who will be so gratefull to keep their jobs they wont moan about the extra workload.

Would you take £100 per day?

I told them that whilst the role is interesting, there would be too much temptation to consider anything better which came along and I don't wanna sign up to a 6+ contract then leave shortly after it starts.

I'd rather hold out a little bit longer and see what else comes when it starts to pick up.. £100 minus travel, holiday, pension, insurances from the limited blah blah works out pretty bad really... either client or agency are milking the situation I think.. I know you're gonna say it's better than earning £0 per day on the bench.
