Frankly, the Gurkhas can have my place in the front line. They'll do it better. That's the point. -
Of course you are drawing your opinion from many years fighting beside the Gurkhas. I forgot that.Originally posted by expat View PostFrankly, the Gurkhas can have my place in the front line. They'll do it better. That's the point.Comment

One Indian I know has just returned to India. Having come to Europe on a crappy pay deal with one big consultancy, he then applied for a job in Amsterdam with another big consultancy, who have now sent him to India on a Dutch salary and expat package to run their development show. He’s laughing his head off.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

I've seen both sides. As a permie we were forced to bring a Tata team up to speed on our project, to the unhappiness of the developers, PM and the client. They were nice guys but after a few months really weren't up to speed. I think if we'd brought a couple on in a normal way, like anyone else starting a new job, they would mostly have been OK.Originally posted by Churchill View PostPersonally, I've never experienced a good Indian developer and they deserve what they're paid.
But instead we had 5 of us and 5 of them and had to spend weeks "teaching them the software" before they started working on it.
On the other hand, the Indian guy I am working with right now is more knowledgeable than me about the area I want him to work on, writes fairly orderly code and has perfect written English.
One thing about Indians is they do actually seem to have a work ethic, and are prepared to work long hard hours we would balk at.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I'm working with a guy at the moment who is very good at what he does. He doesn't look for any extra work, but what he is given to do, he does well, with no moaning, and always with a ready smile.Originally posted by Churchill View PostPersonally, I've never experienced a good Indian developer and they deserve what they're paid.
Top bloke, who I would have no qualms about working with again.
Mid you, I managed a right group of clowns in my first contract.Comment

Worked on an application with a dedicated support team, after a few months on the job there was a big issue so I head over to his desk and ask him to login to the production server. He opens up a completely different program.
The guy was apparently hired by a manager just before he left as revenge. Worse than useless, he was in that dangerous territory.
HE would constantly phone up the wrong people during the night if there was a problem getting them out of their bed
“Hello Steve, there is a problem with the application”
“This is Alan”
“Oh OK, I phone Steve then”Comment
