Dude, I was trying to draw a comparison with something Mich the Tester was saying with something that everyone would immediately agree was an outrageous comment. Looks like I got the outrageous part right.
Re: is it illegal to be gay... well that's exactly my point, no it isn't. As far as I know being a racist isn't illegal either, so it wouldn't be right to sack someone JUST for being on the BNP list. Which Mich was advocating.
Sort of thread-within-a-thread here, please feel free to read back half-a-dozen posts and catch up with this particular sub-discussion.
Thanks, dude.
In Xeno's world, being gay is ok, but being racist is not.
If people get sacked for being on that list then fine by me. Good luck to them in their employment tribunals.
I got sacked for being on this list (CUK) and I'm not even racist!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
No, you got sacked for your actions (posting during work time), not for the fact you were on CUK list!
Could you prove that in a court of law?

Just because they're BNP members does not necessarily mean that they are all racist. Some are just fed up with indigenous folk being treated second class, having their jobs undercut by cheap immigrant labour and general living standards falling. Many of those people that are fed up are actually black or asian.
Indigenous people being treated second class? Don’t give me that; it’s standard nonsense everywhere and it just isn’t true. Fair enough to complain about tulipty economic policies, but if you lose your job to an unskilled immigrant with a dodgy grasp of English, you need to take a hard look at your own skills and work out how to improve yourself before blaming someone else.
I came to the Netherlands with no grasp of the language, not much money, a crappy certificate of higher education and in the middle of a recession. If I could manage to learn the language, get professional qualifications, get a job and then start my own business, with no state handouts, no free higher education as a foreigner, and the only job opening at the start being labouring on a building site, then there is no excuse whatsoever for native citizens who’ve had the benefit of free education, subsidized training, free healthcare and all the other chances a western society offers.
Sure people are fed up, but to blame immigrants for their problems is just weak and cowardly, and that’s another reason I wouldn’t want to employ them; they’re too bloody indolent to make use of all the opportunities they’ve had to better themselves, and I don’t need people like that in my business.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014
