The word homophobic is a good example of newspeak - controlling thoughts through the language. All people who disapprove of homosexuality are instantly labelled as having an irrational fear of gays.
Not to say that some of those will have an irrational fear, but disapproval <> fear. Homosexist might be a more neutral term, but someone who disapproves of homosexual behaviour doesn't necessarily discriminate against gays.
So, well done to the politically correct thought police.
