Surely a poll has already been tried for this subject.

In 20 years in IT, I've only encountered one homosexual. He was Head of IT. When I was a mere trainee, a group of us went to the pub. The various drink orders were called out to one of the senior guys, who responded in disgust "6 pints of bitter and an orange juice?!. Who's having the pouff's drink?". "That'll be mine" said Head of IT.

And there was one bisexual, but he married a girl last year.

So either homosexuals are more a minority in the IT industry than, for example, theatre, or the IT industry is a more hostile environement for anyone wanting to come out.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

I reckon more hostile. I only worked with one - when he came out someone who had been on cigarette(I nearly wrote fag!) breaks with him was worried people would think him gay by association! What a numpty.

Definitely more than are open about it. I worked with one who came out, and one who was 'out' but kept it quiet cause it was too much hassle. Actually that guy married his long term partner and has a more normal, stable relationship than most couples I know.

Better question to ask would be to ask gay men how may of them are open about it at work, from there I figure you'd get a better idea.

That's because you hang out with a bunch of freaks and flakes. Possibly.

At what age should children be told about gimp masks?
                      What is a "gimp mask"?
