In fact I now remember that at one time I was living at Tooting Bec and worked at the wharf. Fun journey that was.

      Gatecrashing...

As a brand new member (fairly new contractor at that), who hasn't had anything meaningful to add to the forum, I can't actually PM yet... Any chance of allowing me to gatecrash the drinks?

Hi Alantan, no probs. Welcome to CUK.

Edit: Ah, I can't PM you. All the info you need is in this thread - any questions just ask.

Great, thanks RH! Should be fun to meet everyone, as lurking on these boards the past few days has been highly entertaining.

I must write a separate post to bore you all with my situation.

              Attention all CUKers!

The time is drawing near... and I'll be every so slightly busy this weekend so I thought I'd just round up where we are with the whole Summer Drinks malarkey. I'll be calling the Market Porter on Sunday to confirm party size with a view to reserving an area, I have about 7 people interested in food (be there before 5pm for food) so far, and awaiting responses from a few... notably:

              Xen
              Bear
              Warrior Princess
              Spacecadet
              Francko
              Marina
              Timberwolf
              MF
              Alreadypacked
              platypus
              Pondlife
              Baggy
              Sasguru
              Voodooflux
              DaveB
              tay
              The Mods

PM me if you can make it, if you're not sure still, then no probs, just turn up. If you all turn up we'll be taking over the whole pub btw.

              Cheers!

RH - tried PMing...how are we to recognise a group of middle aged geeks amongst the real ale lovers that frequent the Market Porter?!?

                      I've PM'ed you RH...
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
