Where can I find expert analysis on housing predictions?
Sad, but true. Incidentally, in 'Sins of a Solar Empire' (space game) I discovered that if you hold the ctrl-alt keys, then stick your thumb up your bum, put your brain into neutral, you can transfer the gold balance directly into your business account
Why not? Most people on here are totally clueless about every subject under the sun, so why be afraid of pointing out that, no matter how much they may think they know about house prices, the fact is they're a bunch of ill-informed idiots whose opinions are of no value?
(Sorry if this statement of the undoubted truth offends anybody... but at least I don't claim to know anything about things I don't understand.)
Can you remind us of the advice to buy you gave on the Northern Rock shareprice a few months ago? Wasn't the share price then £4
You'll find many, many people on here who think they're experts on a great number of things. Sadly the only thing half this shower could advise you on are cheats on Dungeons and Dragons.
Whoever said that RRH didn't know F* all about F* all was wrong!!!
We have a discussion on this and I've seen many similar ones over the web. But where can I find the opinions of professionals in this area? I don't say I would trust them but I'd have more interest in their opinions than of CUK members (no offence intended).
Is reading the FT the easiest way?
Just trust that nice Kirsty woman. She'll tell you that they are going to continue to go up forever.
It's worth reading the views of senior members here (and by senior, I DO mean old!). Some of us have seen the boom and bust cycle a couple of times before.
you don't need to be *that* old to have done this!
People have short memories when it comes to this sort of thing (I.e they always want to believe that this time it IS different).
But where can I find the opinions of professionals in this area? I don't say I would trust them but I'd have more interest in their opinions than of CUK members (no offence intended).
How very dare you! If you had bought my e-book for $29.99 a few years back, you would have made at least $1,563,369 trading BTL and other exotic investments.
Simple answer is that nobody knows for sure what house prices are going to do.
People can make educated guesses based on how prices have reacted in the past, but the "credit crunch" is a whole new ball game, so the action of the 90s house price "crash" probably won't be mirrored this time around.
If you're looking for expert opinion, you're still going to get views of "flat, minor (1-2%) devaluation" to the "40% crash" believers.
My FA (who I very much trust the opinion of) thinks that 2-3 years of minor percentage point devaluation will be had, followed by a renewed, albeit slower (c. 1% per annum), level of growth.
If she weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood. And therefore a witch!
