Wait until the sun comes out. Last I heard Venice is all flooded.

Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

Thats just insane paying that much for a train journey!!Originally posted by DaveB View PostPlanning on taking the present Mrs B to Venice for a week or so in the spring. Being a contractor the only way to do it is on the Orient Express. However it is a serious chunk of wonga ( circa £2400 each for a return ticket ) to drop on a couple of train tickets and my naturally stingy nature is nagging at me not to do it.
So, has anyone travelled on the OE and was it worth it?
Why not fly to Venice and stay in a penthouse instead?!!
Or better still, hire a cottage over here in the country or something, and spend £4800 on champagne, chocolates and porn for the whole weekend! The pope is a tard.Comment

You can get to America in business class for that. I can't imagine any train journey is worth that, unless the cutlery is gold and you can keep whatever you can pocket.Originally posted by DaveB View PostPlanning on taking the present Mrs B to Venice for a week or so in the spring. Because it's The Orient Express and something you will probably only ever do once in a lifetime. You can do the cottage, chocolate, champagne thing anytime and frankly it's not that big of a deal. Same applies to flying out there, it's the easy, everyday option. If you have the opportunity to do something special or something mundane, go for the special every time.Originally posted by SallyAnne View PostThats just insane paying that much for a train journey!!

The hotel/apartment/penthouse is the place we will spend the least time while we are there so there is no point in spending a vast amount on it ( the link earlier was a joke btw ). You could get two round the world tickets for that price.Originally posted by KathyWoolfe View PostI believe you can actually fly to Australia for that amount - thats if you actually WANT to go to Australia (though I do reccommend it in their spring)I'm Spartacus.Comment

I always wonder about charities,
does the money really get to the good causes, if yes how much of it ?
or does the majority of the money get burned up in the charities beurocracy, champagne lunches and wages to the directors and their staff ?

Good question. In the case of SSAFA and RBL, the charities in question have a goodly proportion of their income being spent on the good causes!Originally posted by milanbenes View PostI always wonder about charities,
