How do you know a fish doesn't get brownie points from all the other fish in the pond for being caught? They might actually like a nice rest in a net...

If fish feel pain, then so do vegetables.

This MUST be true as I know a number of vegetarians who eat fish, thus proving that fish are vegetables.

Its not just about pain though is it ??
I I filled you full of pain killers then stuck a red coat on and chased you round the field with a pack of snarling dogs, you'd be pretty pissed off.

Belive me, if a horse doesn't want to do something there is nothing on this earth that will make it do it. Apart from the occasional exceptionally lazy git of a nag, every horse enjoys a damn good gallop, even more so when in the company of other horses.

As far as being run ragged and whipped goes there are very strict rules regarding the way a horse may be ridden in the course of a race and equally strict ones regarding the use of the whip.

If a horse is ridden beyond it's capacity, in the opinion of the course Vet, then the jockey will face fines and a ban from racing. The same applies to excessive use of the whip, as determined by the race judges. Most jockeys nowadays use foam and latex or inflatable whips to ensure that they cannot inadvertantly harm the horse when using it.

You would also be pretty pissed off if some yokel in an anorak stood in front of you dangling a piece of yummy food in front of you that has a nasty hook in hidden behind it that was going to put you into a lot of pain and discomfort and maybe kill you. at least the foxhunt does not try to con the unsuspecting animal.
