Heathrow Airport Single Point of Failure

Not really sure what people are expecting here - you're talking about power requirements equivalent to a town, there's only so much redundancy that you can realistically have when it comes to keeping an entire airport operational.
There's a world of difference between safety critical redundancy, and a level of redundancy which allows normal operation when a huge piece of electrical infra goes down.
There are huge, critical, substations all over the grid - it would be completely impractical, and unreasonable, to try and duplicate them all along with their supply and distribution networks for one off, major, events like this

Milly Beans may be right. If good old V was still here this DM news would have been posted by now:
Counter terrorism police probe Heathrow fire amid claims of Russian sabotage: Substation blaze fits the pattern of Putin's disruption attacks in Europe, and exposes 'vulnerability' in UK infrastructure, say experts | Daily Mail Onlinebloggoth

I would have thought back up generators only keep safety critical systems going.
Even if it was an accident, if you are the sort of actor who wants to cause disruption to the UK you now have learnt a relatively easy way of doing it while sitting at home looking at BBC.co.uk,Comment
