I wonder how much that will have changed now the Tories are gone - less Russian influence/support in parliament now, so no reason to move here anymore. -
I equate them with all the ******** in all the 'English nationalist parties' i've encountered in my 50+ years in the country.Originally posted by vetran View Post

The levels are not very different. Both UK and Spain are in the top 7 countries they buy properties in.
The new law will also help hotel/hostel owners as the AirBnB lot will be taxed at the higher rate. Again, this is a good thing for the local economy.

too subtle again?Originally posted by northernladuk View PostTheir housing market in holiday areas still hasn't recovered from the boom/boost of 10 years ago. Banks still have a process in place just to hand keys back and write the debt off with a ton of unsellable villas on their books. No idea how they think this tax is gonna help that. It's just going to make it worse surely. Granted it's limited to non-EU i.e. us only but that's their major source of purchasing. Sounds like cutting nose off to spite face to me.Leave a comment:

You won get over it!
Spain will be number 2 after China soon, the UK will beg for the scraps off the EU table!
Does this count as ethnic cleansing? Maybe Israel can try this with Gaza charge everyone in Gaza by piece of Rubble to pay for reparations?
I wonder if they will raise much?

Seems like a good idea. There's pleanty of EU tourism to cover for any loss in UK house buyers, not that there are going to be that many since Brexit and the loss of FOM.
It'd be nice if London wasn't owned by the Chinese/Russians/Arabs.Leave a comment:
