    In other news...

Oh hang on, there doesn't seem to be any other news. There are no less than 27 articles about Liam Payne on the DM at the moment and the one about a friendly Golden Retriever greeting bin men is pushed right to the bottom. I mean, I had to scroll to near the bottom to find out if James Blunt is going to change his name to Blunty McBluntface. What's going on?

Don't confuse the Mail Online with the Mail (or the Sunday Mail). Different editorial teams for one thing, and MoL is selling advertising via click bait rather than editorial.

Of course, you have to read any of them with a high degree of scepticism...
    Blog? What blog...?

I notice that the Independent has moved to the "pay us money or we'll litter your computer with tracking cookies" mode of operation. I think The Sun has gone the same way too.

This is a bad trend IMO.

For some reason, almost every website I've been using over the last couple of weeks has gone back to asking me about cookies.
No means no. I don't want your cookies. I don't want "targeted advertising". I want to consider purchasing something from you, but if you're going to sell my data to the world and his mother, then I'll buy from someone else.
