    Frexit?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ly-Macron.html

France risks a 'Frexit in disguise' if the hard right or left are victorious in the upcoming parliamentary elections, a key ally of Emmanuel Macron has warned.

The first round of the election on Sunday propelled Marine Le Pen's National Rally party closer than ever to government, but also left open the possibility that voters could yet block its path to power in the second and final round on July 7.

Sadly those with little knowledge try to blame the messenger.

Wasn’t this story doing the rounds in 2016, 2019, i.e. every time there’s a vote in the UK, we hear that various countries are leaving the EU. I think in the early days we were being told that Greece, Italy and France would all be gone by 2020, and then there was Poland and Netherlands going too, not forgetting the claims by our “Up the RA” reformer that everyone in Ireland wanted to leave.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Interesting graph here which also states in the blurb that Covid and the Ukraine conflict have made people more positive which makes sense. In times of crisis more friends is safer. I'd be willing to bet a good chunk of money that the Brexit outcome would have been different after covid and Ukraine as well.

They can only report on the desires of the parties campaigning or come in to power and the Italian far right goverment were certainly wanting to come out but the people didn't agree. So based on the politics it's a news worthy comment about exiting but the will of the people doesn't back that up.

Yeah, all those new trade deals, freedom from the unelected Brussels officials, treaties with non-EU countries, fastest recovering economy and first to get the population immunised during Covid by not having to wait for 26 other people to agree your plans must have really put them off...

                Blog? What blog...?

so Le Penn didn't win the first round and then the left had to scrabble round?
