I don’t give a tulip about anything happening in Israel, Palestine, or the larger Middle East. They’ve always been fighting and always will.

I wouldn’t care about Russia Ukraine as well but unfortunately our government had made it the taxpayers’ problem by funnelling tons of taxpayer funds towards the conflict and using it as an excuse to import even more immigrants!

Reform did ok in Blackpool South, just behind the Tories. I don’t think they invested much in the locals.

Hmmm... Almost all the Muslims I know (and there are more than a few) are 2nd or 3rd generation at least.

Anyway, that apart, while the Tories are not doing well by any measure, there are a lot of votes not going to Labour as well, and quite a few are going to Independents. Starmer probably shouldn't get too cocky just yet.

As for London, I don't know anyone who supports Khan. While he protests he has no real powers, he is behind the ULEZ nonsense and the rise in knife crime, among a lot of other things. This one may well be a case a case of better the devil you don't know rather than the one that you do!

        Blog? What blog...?

Nearly all my family are Muslim, my dad emigrated to the UK in the early 60s. He used to say that there was more variety in the political and religious views of Muslims than people in the UK generally realised.

A lot depends on the country of origin and whether they came from rural areas, typically villages and small towns, or cities. My extended family are fairly liberal relative to most UK Muslims e.g. quite a significant minority of us have married non-Muslims, whereas my stepmum's wider family are more orthodox.

From what I see, first generation Muslims (i.e. likely 65YO plus) are typically fairly conservative (with a small c) in their views; 2nd and 3rd generation less so.

I’ve put a tenner on at 29/1 on Betfair Exchange, let’s see how it goes!
Blimey - her odds are down to 7/1 now!

Are you going to let your bet run or close your position and take a profit now?

Sort of my point, I do care about innocent people dying & suffering anywhere as you say the Middle East etc have been at war forever, I am hoping Israel wipe out Hamas, PLO & Houthis etc then scare their neighbours into behaving themselves as they have with Egypt.
Sadly they don't seem to be getting a lot of support by the first world countries. Israel aren't perfect but do they keep trying to offer peace. Being pro Hamas or anti Israel will not foster peace. Pushing support for Hamas in the UK is disgusting.

Russia is like Iraq/Iran was if you remove the head then lots more snakes will slither out. Hopefully someone will depose Putin and remove his supporters.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

It’s a tenner, I’m just going to let it run!

They’re all the same - obsessed with religion and increasingly maniacal, there’s never going to be ‘peace in the Middle East’. As long as we aren’t bankrolling anyone, I don’t really give a tulip.

We've kind of had that already to some extent with the likes of Turkmenistan, Belarus etc. Some particularly nasty authoritarian dictators in place.

I suppose the only saving grace is that with Putin around, they are not even worse.
