A Labour government would create a powerful Covid corruption commissioner to help recoup billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money that has been lost to waste, fraud and flawed contracts during the pandemic, Rachel Reeves is to announce.
Tory strategists have boosted the number of “spies” sent to “dig up dirt” on the Labour party at what could be the final conference season before the next general election, sources have told the Guardian.
The Conservatives and Labour usually permit two official “observers” to attend each other’s autumn conference. But this year, Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) is said to have dispatched at least half a dozen more helpers to Liverpool to assess Labour’s strategy.
They have been tasked with infiltrating fringe events taking place outside the secure zone – meaning they do not need an official pass to gain entry – and record any comments by Labour MPs and activists that could be used to attack the party.
One source described the task as being to “dig up dirt” to embarrass Keir Starmer, the Labour leader. Another said they were ready to “mingle with donors” to understand how far some Tory sponsors’ frustration with the Conservatives could push them to give money to Starmer’s party.
Philip Harris, known for his Harris academy schools, switched from donating to the Tories by making a £5,000 contribution to the shadow chancellor, Rachel Reeves, and has criticised the Tories over their lack of “clear vision”.
John Caudwell, the biggest donor to the Conservative party before the last election, has said he would not back Rishi Sunak after the “madness” of the prime minister’s U-turn on green policies. Caudwell said he was thinking about switching to Labour instead.
"You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JR
At least two donors mean to switch to Labour because "the Tories don't have a clear vision" or "have torn up their green policies"? (Hint - they do and they haven't).
As for clear vision, do they think Labour has?
Perhaps they have sent in a lot of extra people to try and find some firm Labour policies. Everything that's been announced or mentioned to date has been withdrawn or even reversed, often in the same week. If Labour really want to win, as oppose to watching the Tories lose, they need to start telling us voters what they actually mean to do. Other than than permit loads more political strikes and ruin the economy of course, that's a given!
And I note this is from the Grauniad, so can safely be discounted....
Keir Starmer REFUSES to axe activist Labour MP Apsana Begum who posed with a pro-Palestinian group hours after it announced a protest outside the Israeli embassy in response to Hamas murdering hundreds of civilians
Grow immigration
cosy up to the EU...
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Cos I have missed it.

The current Tory Party cabinet could literally tulip in Malvolio's toaster and he would lap it up and tell us all that we can't see the bigger picture.

Many of the things I have been moaning about.
1. Illegal immigration - Rwanda & chasing the gangs.
2. Cancelling HS2 before its cost exceeds GDP.
3. The unemployed back to work.
4. Build houses for all the new citizens.
5. lie cheat & steal to get back into power.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Bollocks. The current Tory government is a shambles, full of second rate politicians with nobody even approaching the status of "statesman". They have a vision but it is not what i recognise as a Conservative one, and even if it were they don't have the skills or balls to implement one.
But what escapes your simplistic view is that the current Labour leader and his shadow cabinet are even worse.
We are stuck with a choice of two disasters. I'm not going to vote for the one with a consistent record of buggering up the country. Sorry if that offends your rather childish viewpoint.
