20 years ago when they offered me an account there was no mention of a £3million deposit.

Maybe they have changed their funding minimums and are using that as an excuse when closing accounts for persons they don't like and you lot are lapping it up like idiots because its Farage?

Yet you're the one assuming without any evidence that it must be a personal attack on Farage politics, rather than the far more likely business/risk decision.

Why would Natwest offer him an account if Natwest Group had such an issue with the Dear Leader?

But that’s the point isn’t it? A controversial public person had their account closed without a given reason.

Farage complains and actually has support from many people and the bank offers a lesser account. Then a possible reason for closing the account is leaked.

I remember when cater allen closed a load of contractor accounts. Many of us had a good ole moan about it.

Perhaps we should start holding banks to a higher standard.

So you say Farage is far from alone in having his account closed by a bank without explanation but in his case it must be because of his politics?

That higher standard being a business can choose to business with whomever they wish? Would've thought contractors would respect that.

No, i was arguing for a reason to be given when a bank terminates a bank account. Banks are not normal businesses and they are pretty much a requirement to function in our society.

If you are denied an account the same rule should apply.

Banks have enormous power, politically and economically. Cancelling the accounts of influential people is worrying even if many of you hate them.

My point about cancelling contractors accounts is that it can happen to anyone. Imagine if the government gave a nod to the banks and said these contractors are pain make it difficult for them to operate. Im not saying that happened with cater allen, we are small fry but i hope you take my point.

No based on a number of other respectable complainants who have commented publicly on such poor bank behaviour I am arguing something stinks. The fact that 9 other banks have allegedly refused his custom based on PEP status (one assumes as they refuse to confirm or deny this) sort of confirms this.

You are just assuming without evidence (Farage flatly denies their version of events and explains he has never met the thresholds) that it is a straight business decision.

You seem to be what our friend Alexei would call a useful idiot.

who gives a flying f*** about that twat anyway?

There are real problems, where ordinary people, for whatever reason, cannot open a bank account. This is a total disenfranchisement from modern society. And that needs fixing.
