Why do so many people feel that there is no problem?
How do we educate those who don't want to be educated?
    How do we reduce hatred?

It's difficult questions to answer, particularly as the country lurches further to the right, driven by politicians and media who are more interested in profiting by appealing to the 26% rather than in tackling the difficult issues that affect the 74%
Is the US lurching further to the right?

If you look at the republican party, I would say yes.
The riots on 6th January seemed to show that there's a growing number of violent right wing extremists who will stop at nothing to prevent democracy. Trump, Q-anon, NewsCorp, Fox Corporation, etc.

          As you said earlier:

Division happens when extreme views become normalised.

Those extreme views can come from the left as well as the right.

not sure I should share this right wing extremism.

I saw something posted on twitter showing a trend for race relations, not sure if the link below is the same graph but looks like it. It was just part of the twitter fall out and didnt have time to check the source or anything. So I could be wrong on this but the graph showed relations worsening over the last decade.

Be careful there judging all republicans by the actions and views of a small minority, you might get cancelled

I think anyone with a hole in their bum could have predicted this to be fair. It's not as bad as I thought it would be though.
