I see very few dogs being walked correctly ie the dog walking alongside the owner.
bring back the license. take DNA samples of every dog.
And prosecute the owner based on the DNA in dog sh1t on the pavement.

This. My Dad had gundogs and trained them. I learnt and when I had a dog the same. When I said 'heel' it meant the dog not only walked alongside but it's nose behind my knee.

I would ban encouraging members of the public that their opinions are interesting or useful
This. Might have stopped that lady posting that pile of crap and starting a trend for other like mind clueless idiots to come up with ideas.

Thing is on a shallow level licensing sounds good but that's the thin end of the wedge for government exerting more and more control into our freedom, and I think most of us here are not keen on that (a common theme in contractors is they don't like being told what to do ). I keep backyard chickens, do I need to get a license for them too? Why should it be the government's business if I own a dog, home-school my child, yada yada.

I'm playing Devil's Advocate here to an extent but it's a genuine issue one should be aware of when asking for government regulation on things we don't like.

No I meant the actual ideas from the lady on mumsnet. Wanting petrol to be exactly the same price where ever you buy it. Nice armchair idea with no thought for the business end etc. Horrible to read.

Dogs kill people and sadly kids and babies, chicken don't. Dogs are unpredictable and for some breads, they will at an opportunity kill a baby because they see it as a threat. Twice in my life I have been savaged by a dog and ended up is hospital.
