OK, so what would be the source and indeed the authority for this new chamber?

Keep a few law lords to keep the legislation sensible.

Then have the people vote on the political issues. Preferably all the people, or choose people by lot to be representatives.

At least “I want bad” is truthful and explains why you want scumbag politicos in the House of Lords.

Where did I say I wanted scumbag politicos? Apart from which, anyone looking for a position in such an establishment is, almost by definition, a politico.

What I did say was they should not be "party political" nor beholden to any party or closely associated with one particular persuasion

More to the point, I asked where such paragons would come from if not via a political process, and who would create such an assembly, if not scumbag politicians?

            Answer comes there none...

Standards of comprehension around here get worse every year. As does that of reasoned debate. Twitter has a lot to answer for, especially the proliferation of twits.

The answer is to choose people by lot. Like I said, and the way democracy used to work before it got corrupted.
