    RANT: I'm a Celebrity - GTF Off the News

    <RANT>

    Sorry, I've tried to stifle this, but am I the only person who spends a few minutes each night shouting at their TV (and then reaching for the remote control) when ITV's flagship news show (you know, the thing that's meant to tell you the serious stuff going on in the world) cuts to some non-entity in some back-water gushing about the latest happenings (or gossip) surrounding some other non-entities who are trying to boost their non-entity-ness on a TV show fronted by two babbling presenters.

    I appreciate that a fair number of people in this country quite like these low-brow tabloid-style TV shows - it means they don't have to think about their energy bills and might give them some alternative meal ideas to help mitigate the cost of living crisis that fills the rest of the news schedule - but, come on, why is this garbage now polluting our TV news shows?

    Surely I'm not the only one?

      You can't beat them. Just ditch the TV. Reduced energy consumption, no TV licence fee, reduced blood pressure.

        Most of them are quite well known people this year, and the fact Matt Hancock is in makes it genuinely relevant news. It's current affairs.

        Deriding it as "low brow tabloid blah blah blah" looks a bit silly when you are one of the people who has to take to the internet to complain about how you feel about things.

          Seeing MH getting covered in spiders is surely quite calming.

            Couldn't watch that or the BBC's dumbed down offering either.

            Ch4 News is the only one I bother with.
            Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.

              Try a bit of GBNews it riles the guardian readers!

              To be fair to ITV "I'm a showoff Z lister, get me out of here" is one of their best earners.

                Please explain your logic here. Are you saying this board is also low-brow tabloid blah blah blah?

                (From your defensive post, I assume you're an avid fan of trash TV such as that?)

                  And I guess that's why they advertise it on theirs news shows. Before we know it, we'll have the presenters eating various animals' testicles between news items.

                    I might be tempted away from Ch4 News for that.
