Of course Meta/facebook has my details .... I log on with my email address and I use my mobile number as 2 factor authentication if there is a log on from a device I've not used before.

What I have done is turn off people who have my phone number being able to find me on Facebook ... that is a bit scary. I was on a dating app earlier this year. Chatted to a few lovely lasses, exchanged numbers for WhatsApp chatting.

Anyway, as these were now in my contacts list, their Facebook profiles were popping up as 'someone you might know'. Had I been a stalker then that's not great security for those girls. People really do need to change that setting on facebook to protect themselves!

I am what I drink, and I'm a bitter man

Apparently our phone numbers are not that valuable https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-63568585
Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has announced that it will cut 13% of its workforce.

What a strange and vicious comment. Facebook and WhatsApp provide a valuable service to most of their users.

also if they go bust your data will be sold to the lowest bidder related to the insolvency firm (the difference will be in the brown envelope).

I guess you need to throw a new statement in to the mix. Pissed off Meta employees probably have your email and private phone number as well. There are going to be a lot of pissed off employees who I'd imagine will quite happily take as much data as they can with them.

They have all my details, but don't provide any service for me as I have never used any of their services, they basically stole my details from anyone foolish enough to join their crap data harvesting platform.

To create a pervasive service you need to collect lots of data. You might find that invasive but you are the product so you aren't important!

I'm not the product, I've never used them, they stole my details from someone who happened to have my email and private phone number, without MY consent.
