Labour's confidence vote was on Boris Johnson, himself.

The Tories ripped that up to have a confidence vote on the government which Labour didn't want as as it would have triggered a GE if the government lost.

Tobias Ellwood, cat murderer, missed the vote and lost the whip - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62221445

A senior Tory MP has been suspended from the parliamentary party after he missed a vote of confidence in Boris Johnson's government.

Tobias Ellwood has had the whip removed and will not be able to vote in the Conservative leadership election.

Mr Ellwood said he was "sorry" to lose the whip but argued he was unable to return from a meeting in Moldova.

The government won the vote and the prime minister is due to continue in his role until a successor is elected.

Mr Ellwood, a former minister who chairs the Commons Defence Committee, said he had a meeting with the president of Moldova on Monday and had been "unable to secure return travel due to unprecedented disruption both here and in the UK".

"I am very sorry to lose the whip but will now continue my meetings in Ukraine promoting the prime minister's efforts here and specifically seeking to secure the reopening of Odessa port - so vital grain exports can recommence," Mr Ellwood said in a statement.

Yes Sue we all know that. Don't let facts get in the way of comedy.

No need to bend the truth, when the truth is madder than anything anyone could come up with.

Why they hell would you remove the whip from an MP for apparently doing their ministerial job?

They suspect he wrote "Boris is a knob" on the toilet wall. I think the "anti Penny" idea is nonsense but there's presumably more to it, unless it's simple incompetence that they didn't realise why he wasn't there!

He's a long-term Boris critic, plus he didn't arrange with the whips. Sure, they could've been lenient (although it's also perfectly legitimate to remove the whip in these circs), but see the first point.

But if he wasn't voting for Rish! why would Boris care?

If it has these people throwing their toys out of their prams, perhaps it's a good thing. That is a disturbing picture. It looks like Rishi and Prince Charles somehow got morphed together. Cruddas sounds a fairly unpleasant bloke.

I thought it was his spitting image puppet. Both he and Charles have ears that stick out.
I think Pritti Patel got a nastier puppet than him. His isnt so disturbing.

Oh, I don’t think it had much to do with that, it was just a perfect opportunity to kick him.
