I've only seen the clip today but it doesn't exactly show Liz as someone who leaps into action in a crisis.
Just think of the publicity she would get if she leapt across the stage and delivered mouth-to-mouth.

Ah but are you aware of the Astley paradox?

If you ask Rick Astley for a copy of 2009's "Up" but he doesn't give it to you because he will never give you up.
But by not doing so, he lets you down, and breaks his second rule.
He has to either give you up, or let you down, which rule will he break?

Not seen the clip. Can't be bothered to look for it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head though - they're both damned if they do, damned if they don't. Leaping to help will be seen as doing it for the publicity. Not helping is seen as being callous and uncaring or simply no use in an emergency.

We want someone who reacts quickly, sensibly and shows compassion. Its difficult to fake a cool head in a crisis.

Sadly Liz didn't react the way I expected from a born leader. Rishi apparently did.

Lucky it wasn't Boris he would have inseminated her before the Ambulance arrived!

The clip only shows Liz as she was speaking at the time... No doubt we'll get the full footage at some point. Someone will leak it or they'll do a story on it once they are sure she is OK.

She reacted like pretty much any normal human would (contrary to expectations, perhaps ): surprise, then moved to try and help.

              Discussion above is very silly.

We have a (Tory) culture secretary who thinks having nice clothes is a bad thing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62331422
Has this sort of penny-pinch faux-poor mentality even permeated the leadership? Ugh. Part of the point of working hard, pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and all that guff is the aspiration that by doing so you can provide a comfortable life for your family and buy nice things if you want to. If you were a millionaire why would you NOT buy a proper suit, especially if you have to wear it all day?

If you wanted to lead a country where the vast majority of the population are struggling to pay bills (a problem that you have greatly exacerbated by adding unnecessary taxes and levies), why would you turn up in a tailor made and very expensive suit and wear expensive shoes to walk around a muddy field? If you don't undertand the message that sends out you don't serve anyone's vote.

That 's all Dorries was saying. Nothing to do with wealth or aspiration, lots to do with awareness and public persona.

Agree. Personally, I don't care what Sunak chooses to spend or wear or how rich he is and I suspect most people don't really care. But I would simply observe that he is a little bit crap at politics, something that has been clear for a while now. That is not ideal for someone applying to be Head Politician. This is why he's getting hammered by Liz Truss, of all people (she may be a bit nuts, but she can do politics).
