I remember living in an area as a student where the supermarket closed down. The next nearest was 3 miles away. Luckily I knew people with cars otherwise it was over priced veg and fruit from the corner shop.

No it was 1.17 for petrol £1.19 Diesel. A detached house was £250k on average round my way it was £250k for a terraced house (average wage = £25,882).

No not everyone does, but most in urban areas do. Living in the arse end of nowhere is a lifestyle choice.

3 miles so a massive 15 minute ride. It would take a similar time in a car with traffic.

Hard to say without knowing how much is spent on drink and drugs which was about 80% of my income in my case.

I lived in one briefly and it has haunted me years later so I make sure I live walking distance from more than one supermarket.

Oh and the nearest supermarket that was 3 miles away was at the edge of a dodgy area and took 2 buses to get back from it. You had to change in the dodgy area to get the second bus, so most people preferred to do a longer journey to avoid that.

Being poor and/or having a challenging existence are not a consequence of lifestyle choice.

Many people are trapped in circumstances through no fault of their own.
