Lots of legal restrictions on these.
You cannot use them for example as "registered address" for example for registering with a GP and I believe you cannot register companies to them.
Also look at close-down periods. Some parks have to close at a set time each year. Complete Shutdown.
    These do depreciate too.

      Hark at her...

As it happens, I am thinking of splitting my time between the continent and here so I'm not remotely trolling the forum in the slightest.

Didn't know about not being able to use them as a registered address. There are some on the old gravel lakes South Cerney near Swindon which are holiday homes but families live in them all year & their kids attend the local schools without any issue. Don't like the sound of fixed close down periods at all.

I think you may be confusing park homes and seasonal caravan sites.

          For park homes -
I've read some horror stories about service charges and restrictions and fees around selling.
Some sites have a compulsory maximum age* too - at which point you need to buy a new dwelling from their approved supplier.
It's also apparently quite easy for you to sign up for a reasonable one, then find the site's been sold to someone else and all the rules and charges have changed.

          *Of your home, not residents.

Definitely not confusing. Many park home sites have restrictions. Mostly laid down by the local planning authority.

I think you are wrong- there are holiday parks with static caravans and wooden lodges etc that have such restrictions, but Park Homes generally have a residential licence permitting year round occupation. Happy to stand corrected if you can post a link to a park home (as opposed to holiday home) site you can't live in all year round.

I know those ones a little bit. The entire development has been on the market a few times. Not heard about year-round living there though. Owners might be flouting the law with the schooling.

I think if you have a holiday home you can always apply for "change of use" to your local council and make it your permanent residence.

All of those are clearly being advertised as holiday homes, not year-round residential.
