Best place you've ever been on holiday

I've been to a lot of places over the years, short and long haul. With one of the worst permie jobs I had, I used to go away 4 times a year. Looking forward to the next holiday was the only thing that kept me going.

My all time favourite place is Lanzarote. Yep Lanzagrotty. Best holiday was renting a private villa in Los Mojones, within walking distance of Puerto del Carmen old town and harbour.

Second favourite place would be Pollensa, Majorca, again staying in private villas.

Vegas Baby Vegas. Just everything about it is for me. I get it's marmite. My other half hates everything about it. She's glad she went to see it and do the stuff but wouldn't go back. Trying to arrange my 12th visit this year.

These days there are more upmarket places to stay on the island.

I went on a jolly with work and hated it.

Probably because it reminded my of my home county of Essex - cheap people who think they are high rollers because they have a little bit of cash on their hip.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it. Just brought back a memory that's all .

Yes, there are some classier places on the island; last time I went we stayed at the Princesa Yaiza in Playa Blanca.

It used to be quite cheap to hire a villa with a pool (so long as it wasn't half holidays) but then people stopped going to Egpyt for winter sun and the prices went right up. Would be interested to see if that has rectified itself now that folks are returning to Sharm.
