The real man int the street has far bigger things to concern himself with than the outfall of the Partygate nonsense and the machinations of a rag tag bundle of newbies, malcontents and has-beens.

You're right, the real man in the street is more concerned about the cost or replacing all metric measurements with imperial ones, selling off Channel 4, the privatisation of the passport office, etc. The spin that "Partygate should be forgotten" has sunk in well with those who think it was just about the denials that parties happened, and not about the people who didn't get to say goodbye to relatives, didn't go to funerals, didn't break the law, but are being told to just "get over it".
The Tory party used to be the party of Family Values, of Crime and Punishment. The only crime that they consider worth punishing is being foreign. The only family they value is the family business.

I'm hoping that the man in the street isn't as morally bankrupt as the current ministers, their propaganda machine and their acolytes.

That isn't what was reported in The Sunday Times yesterday where the majority of those those reported as defecting from Con to Lab in the Wakefield by-election cited the parties and lies as the primary reason.

20-30 votes is not enough to maintain authority, ask Teresa.

Johnson won't resign unless he is defeated. 359 MPs less say 71 letter writers leaves 288 others. Of those another 111 vote against and he loses by 1.

Given the lack of serious opposition for the role - and noting that most of the likely candidates are in the letter writing group - I think he is more likely to survive than not. However, this will all come back to bite him further down the line.
