Friday to Monday perm to contractor

How far apart does the Friday and Monday have to be for one to be safe?

I left a subsidiary of clientCo's parent company in 2004 and returned as a contractor in 2020. They still had an account in my name on the system.

Am I at risk of being considered one of those hated Friday to Monday tax dodging types? Should I just lube up and accept my fate?

I would use the MVL rules - which says 2 years.

I would have said anything over a year or two is fine, and 2004 to 2020 is practically a geological epoch!

edit: But then I'm not noted for the infallibility of my contracting advice

Sounds a bit dodgy/bad practice they kept your account all those years!

Make sure to change your email signature and get off the "staff picnic" email list

They did create a new account, LadyMuck1, so I reckon that'll knock Hector off the scent.

Yep. I leave poorly annotated and non-functional VBA everywhere I go.

Haven't they heard of the DPA and GDPR?

When you leave this time ask them to evoke your right to be forgotten.

Christ, I left my current client for 2 months and had to be onboarded from scratch. Which broke a bunch of stuff because some of the web/cloud enabled things didn't like the fact my username existed with a new SID etc

disabled as you march out the door. Retired as agreed with the business but I would expect <6 months. Don't they do an annual user audit?

Damn you have been left longer than I have worked for anyone!
