    easyJet flight changes

I changed some flights I was due to take next week for new ones. At the same time I made an additional booking for two more people to go with us on the same new flight.

Imagine my surprise that for the changed flights, the outward leg was 3x higher than that of the newly booked flights.

Having read comments on other sites that published the story that easyJet have dropped flight transfer charges, it seems that many people have experienced the same as me. I.e. the flight transfer charges are simply added to the price of your outbound leg.

easyJet's defense is that the prices are realtime so there's no fixed price. (Subtext - so when we've got you hostage needing to make a flight transfer or lose all your money, we'll gouge you for what we can get). Bit irritating - if they didn't allow flight transfers at all, I'd at least be able to claim from my travel insurance. Oh well.

You may say that. However, when I was doing lots of flying or able to fly I found EasyJet's punctuality much better than BA's.
I stopped using BA after an incident in 2012.
I found I couldn't trust BA where I needed punctuality. Don't get me started on KLM or Air France.

INKSPE. Hmm. You know how the rich stay rich? We don't spend money unnecessarily. Of course the maids go with them.

I've generally found easyJet fine. Of course, there have been cancellations, but then it's just a matter of a few hotel rooms and flying with someone else - all reimbursed by easyJet.

But with this tactic, I think they should now be known as sneakyJet.

To be fair, I've moved EJ flights multiple times in the last 18 months, and most of the time it's been free. Most I've had to pay was £16 and that was moving from non-peak to peak season.

Did you check though? Perhaps if the new flights were cheaper, they wouldn't do this. Maybe it only becomes apparent when moving to a similar or more expensive. Or maybe it depends on how close to the flight it is.

The flight were more expensive. But it was clear I was being charged more than I would have been for new flights. If they'd charged me that rate, it would have been about £40. If I hadn't made the additional booking I would not have noticed.

It was only the outbound leg that was 3x the price. Inbound was the same price for both the changed and the additional flights.

Yeah - 3x more when the original flight was 50p isn't going break the bank
