I see Labou are celebrating like they won a GE, that they barely held onto a very safe seat.

Because he is very good at campaigning.

When he took the London seat of Oona King, he flooded the people in the local area with leaflets.

Unfortunately some people can't think for themselves so listen to the last person who spoke to them or canvassed them.

I'd imagine there was probably at least 324 people who voted for her solely on the basis she was Jo's sister, IIRC she wasn't even a labour member until a week before she was announced as their candidate

Palestine. Cos that's what matters in Batley.

This. I doubt Labour would have won with any other candidate.

That was always going to happen and I'm a little surprised he didn't get more. He's always appealed to the Asian community. He won the Bradford West by election in 2012 with is Respect party so he's got form for championing the communities issues and knows them. The Asian Communities also work differently in many areas including politics which George knows. There is more of a clan mentality so once you get the nod of certain people clan politics come in to it.

Here's an article about his Bradford West win which goes someway to explain how he did so well this time.

Neither of those appeal to the Asian vote I wouldn't have thought.

But how many people didn't vote for her for the same reasons, surely at least a few
