interesting ... you call me a slaver because I don't support Br***t, yet you're comfortable a woman being completely controlled, including forced sterilisation?

It makes no difference who the 'guardian*' is, it's immoral and unethical.

    * nice use of word guardian too, to try and diminish what is really happening to this poor woman and has been since 2008.

No I called you a slaver because you support the continued exploitation and virtual slavery of a cheap imported workforce. Sorry if you can't understand the parallel.

I do not support sterilisation I said some of her songs were criminal (joke) but sterilisation is considered bad. Send crayons I will draw it out for you.

If she is not competent (this seems to be what the courts believe on expert advice) she needs a guardian. It being a relative with a large amount of money involved is open to abuse.

You can form a trust and have professional administrators. The trust can review her mental status regularly and adjust her conditions. How do you think other people with mental issues are managed?

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

hence some. Many of her earlier videos were quite inappropriate - sadly they seem normal now. She has real talent and a great song writing team.

Heard that on the news this morning. The start of her road to recovery methinks.

Whether she performs again or not, she definitely deserves to get her life back.

Absolutely. Totally disgusting the way she has been treated and exploited.

Sad as it seems, but I just can't believe this would have happened if she was a man. I really hope she gets some normality back and the gutter press leave her alone.

Isn't this a little bit like power of attorney? I don't think it is that uncommon for someone deemed not of sound mind to have someone else make decisions for them though this does seem a farcical use of that.

Yes and no. I think it goes much further and deeper than that. A PoA still has limitations but a conservatorship is control over EVERYTHING and, once put in place, is nigh on impossible to revoke whereas the PoA can be easily cancelled.

                      and no

His mother, Linda Demer, worried that he wouldn’t be able to make complicated decisions about his finances and health care once he turned 18. So, in 2005, a judge in Los Angeles, where they live, granted her conservatorship over Greg.

“I wanted to protect him,” she said of her son, who is now 31.

But in the conservatorship process, the judge also stripped away Greg’s right to vote. He was not only unfit to make decisions about his health care and finances, the judge ruled, but he also was unfit to participate in the democratic process.

In being declared “mentally incapacitated,” he joined tens of thousands of Americans with disabilities who every year lose their right to vote during guardianship proceedings, according to the California-based Spectrum Institute, an advocacy group for people with disabilities.
