Well as suggested by others when I have raised similar before word meanings change. The original meaning seems to be to awakened to discrimination.

As racism has changed meaning from overt acts to perception of mistreatment based on your skin colour maybe both have evolved?

Woke in the UK has only really been common since the BLM farce so to me it means its current meaning of being excessively sensitive based on your perception of the way you or others are treated.
