Solar doesn't perform very well in the UK. It's just not sunny enough here.
A 100W solar panel only achieves anywhere near 100W in full sun. Even the wispiest cloud will greatly reduce the power output. And as for cloudy days, forget it.
If you live outside a city, and have the space, a wind turbine is probably a much better bet.Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.Comment

Of course it’s not sunny all the time, and the output of PV solar panels will drop a little under cloud or on winter days, when the sun is weaker. In average UK weather conditions, you can expect one kilowatt of panels to generate between 700 and 900 units (kilowatt-hours, kWh) of electricity per year. So a 3.5kW south-facing domestic system will produce about 3,000kWh per year. Where you live will be a factor – for example Cornwall receives 30% more solar energy than northern Scotland.
For a detailed assessment of output by month you could use the European Commissions PV GIS online tool. Zoom in on the map there and click on your location, and set the correct slope and orientation (azimuth). The tool defaults to a 1kW array, so change the peak power to the sort of kilowatt rating you are thinking of installing.Comment

no worse than moving to any other decent third country. Easier than the US or Australia.
You fancy some EU loving? I hear AssGoo is there!Comment

That's just over 2 units per day. (Equivalent to the panel being in full sun for 2 hours per day.)
If you're outside a city, and have a decent sized garden, you may get better ROI with a wind turbine.Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.Comment
