    DOOM: Red Dwarf

"Legal row puts future of Red Dwarf at risk

Fallout between creators Doug Naylor and Rob Grant heads for the High Court

The future of Red Dwarf has been put in jeopardy because of a row between its two creators.

Doug Naylor and Rob Grant dissolved their partnership in the mid-1990s, with the former continuing to write the show either alone or with other collaborators.

However, Naylor has now launched a High Court action against his former best friend over the rights to the show.

The legal broadside was prompted by his removal from the board of their joint company, Grant Naylor Productions, in March last year, 30 years after they set it up.

In his claim, reported in today’s Daily Mail, Naylor alleges the company told UKTV that it ‘retained all rights in Red Dwarf’."

The books are great. The first 4 or 5 series were brilliant. When Rimmer left it went down hill. And bringing in a Cochanski who was not Claire Grogan should be a flogging offence; couldn't watch those series.

Apart from that, couldn't care less as I have the series that matter on DVD (ripped to MP4 so I can watch whenever I want)

Yeah the reboots have been dire though to be fair I haven't watched all of them so they might have picked it up a bit - seemed a bit of a tired rehash to me. I did enjoy all the original series (8 I think?)

The books are great. I don't know how many people are aware of them.

Thought this was going to be a late RIP thread.

bringing in Cochanski ruined the entire point of it being 3 blokes (ish) stuck in a spaceship.

It had the potential if they had free hand and none of that Victorian morality baggage...

                  When Rimmer left
Never knew he did. I obviously haven't seen any but the old ones.

It was Epic until the series where they went back in time and shot Kennedy. Then it became unwatchable - I have no idea if it improved from there.

                    The books were tremendous though!
