I'm just as bad as PC, I went to Spain (Cadiz/Seville) in August and then Portugal (Lisbon/Porto/Coimbra) in October. I can definitely say those trips helped keep me a little closer to sane. As many precautions as possible were taken. Everyone in those towns and cities were taking great care too.

I didn't break any laws then and I certainly wouldn't travel for the next couple of months or so. It's good to book something and have it to look forward to, knowing that the bookings are flexible enough to be moved/refunded if things don't work out.

      - Singapore, September 2021, three weeks. Using the cheap (first class with SWISS) flights to get there and aim to head out to Taiwan and hopefully Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos. Will plan out the details in August. Flights are cancellable/changeable.

      - Antarctica, November/December 2021, three weeks on a boat followed by two weeks in Argentina. Will see the solar eclipse from South Georgia. Just the deposit paid at the moment. Hurtigruten were offering a 'book by 31/01, cancel for any reason, get ALL your money back' offer which was too good to turn down. They also included the flights in the cost.

Now I just need to stay in work to pay for it all
I really like the idea of the eclipse journey.
Just looked one up and it's nearly £20k, per person, and that doesn't get you to the boat in the first place

This is the one I've booked

Solar Eclipse Cruise to Antarctica, Falklands and South Georgia | Hurtigruten UK

Booked into F2 cabin (just up from a basic as it has a double bed). Flights are still included, I see, but the price per head has gone up by just under £400 since I booked

Unlike PC you don't post stupid things about the pandemic.

And that's the difference. PC has proven time and time again he's got a disgraceful attitude to this all. It's not the trip that's the problem, it's his attitude to it. If he's so anti covid it's not just him travelling, it's how he conducts himself and considers every one around him when he's doing it.

That's 4 days shorter and doesn't do the Falklands or South Orkney. Personally, I don't see that as good value.

If I'm trekking all the way down there, I want to see as much as I possibly can as I know I won't be back.

I'm hoping we'll be able to stop at Port Lockroy so I can send a postcard from the Penguin Post Office - the most southerly Royal Mail outpost there is! You even get a stamp in your passport when you land

Are one way trips cheaper then?

You need to send more than one postcard.

At least one to your parentals, one to yourself and one to NF - so he's inspired to find more interesting links.
