Easyjet were prepared for this and have an Austrian AOC / subsidiary for exactly this reason.

Austria makes sense. I never expected easyJet to be caught out as they're the only UK airline I could think of who does point to point within Europe.

As I said, it's a non story but something for the [insert name of foamy mouthed user/newspaper here] to get excited over.

EasyJet plans to close bases and cut staff in the UK

They're busy recruiting new staff in Austria.

The only problem with Austria is that Vienna Terminal 1 is a complete dump which no-one really cared about once Lufthansa / Austria Air moved to Terminal 3.

Opening an office in the EU won't be sufficient, they'll need to set up a separate company in the EU with planes, maintenance and EU based flight crews.

Considering easyJet won't pay for jetties to the aircraft, cos it cheaper to do steps to tarmac, I suspect they don't care.
