The trick is, when armed UK police tell you to do something, you do it and argue about your rights afterwards. In fact, as soon as you're the target of armed police, your life is in real danger. It's the way it works. Thank goodness they're not armed all the time. Although other countries with armed police seem to manage not too many egregious killings.

He didn't do what he was told. "Stop, armed police". He didn't stop. If you do not follow the commands of armed police, you are in extreme risk of being shot dead. It was a tragedy. He'd done nothing wrong and by all accounts he was befuddled by medication. Critically, the police did not know that.

If there are to be armed police then innocent people will lawfully be shot dead. It isn't a perfect system, but I'm not convinced a perfect system exists.

Don't always work unfortunately.
I think police need to use lethal force to defend themselves in some infrequent situations. And even then sometimes they get killed.

its a judgement call police however are more likely to be killed by cars than guns in the uk.
