    D Day was 6th June 1944.

So why are we celebrating it today?

Because the airborne units took off on the 5th and started to parachute in just after midnight on 6th.

The landings began on the 6th.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Yeah but by that logic, you could choose the 4th, the day they were loading up, before they took off and landed.

Does it matter, so long as it is celebrated. And yes, you are a cretin. HTH

Should we celebrate that too, and if yes then on which day?

IMO the UK spends too much time looking back at past "glories". And not enough time looking forward.

Even cretins will only run over a cliff edge if they're looking behind them.
