Sounds good. Balance is important in life.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostMarried with 2 kids. My outgoings are around 3-3.5k per month. But then again Zopa pays me 1500 per month and rent is around 1800, if it wasn't for tax and the school fees I'd be laughing.
But Zopa could go Wonga so be careful.
My outgoings are more than yours and we still have to prepare for increasing costs as the kids get older. So retiring on £x amount might seem reasonable now but I wouldn't want to struggle when the kids are older and going through Uni etc.
And don't talk to me about tax

9% return on Stanmore Street (guaranteed(?) for 2 years)
Downsides - you have to sell your shares and find someone to buy them to get your original investment back. For average investor, no tax. For contractor who takes dividends, your prevailing tax rate.
I've stuck a non-trivial but modest amount in. So far, living up to promise.Comment

Hmm. There's actual houses underpinning this. You might be right, and my investment choices have had mixed outcomes. Concept seems sound though. They do have a guaranteed rebuy property but the return is lower at 5.5%. Happy so far, will no doubt come whinging when I lose all my money.Originally posted by AtW View PostFinding a greater fool?
