No significant surprises here as it would have been a fairly bold decision to have swiped a further 0.25% from the base rate.

Bank Rate reduced to 4.75% - November 2024
Looking at the report, it is interesting to note that there was a 8-1 majority to reduce the base rate by 0.25%. This essentially means that they are confident that inflation is heading in the right direction.

Well yes, but we should note that the prices of the services sector holding steady is as much to do with the overall reduction in business activity and especially hiring that is currently happening. By any sensible measure, the economy is not doing that well at the moment.
