We’re talking about darmy here. This has such a vanishingly low probability of occurrence that it’s verging on conspiracy theory.

There is a noticeable reverse behaviour going on with this event. The zoomers who propagate every conspiracy theory from Diana to the moon landings are now screaming conspiracy theory at the continuously lucid members of society.

Macron has now come out in support of the British government.

          Right on cue.

Sturgeon probably has a bottle of Scotch and a revolver on her desk just now.

I just can't work out what planet these people are on. I mean, I'm not patriotic enough to blindly believe everything our country does is right and just - but, jesus wept, it's Russia. They're not even particularly trying to cover up their corruption, war mongering and faux democracy any more.

Even for the people who believe that it's plausible they may not have done it, surely the response from Russia says it all. They don't give a tulip - they're just playing games and wasting time and I'm actually really chuffed we're not playing into that.

She should learn from the Russians and ensure he has an "accident" or dies from "natural causes"

Pretty likely it is Russia but wouldn't an appearance of more diplomacy have worked better? Just giving them 24 hours to refute the allegations while providing no evidence is making it easier for people to dismiss the case.

I think there could be CCTV of Putin himself administering the substance and it still wouldn't be enough for people. Russia will look you square in the eye and deny everything no matter what - they're never going to even come close to admitting it. What they will do, is gladly get into a tit for tat time wasting and misdirection war.

You'd think a sensible and level headed leadership would be speaking in terms of what will happen if it is proven - as opposed to jumping straight to retaliation and things like trying to get them kicked off the UNSC...

But let's not let due process and sensible behavior get in the way of some good old hysterical aggression toward a country that's been a pain in the rear for quite a few years now. It worked for Iraq, hasn't quite worked for Syria after several attempts - maybe now those pesky Ruisskies will pack up and go home so we can jolly well advance into Syria - then Iran - then wherever the hell else we are planning to.

History will judge and hopefully some common sense will prevail - or maybe we can all die in WW3 which seems to be the only option our wise leaders appear to be interested in.

Probably won't happen though - Russia and China are big enough to keep the West in check, we're in a multipolar world. But let them keep trying to 'break' the other side - it's a losing battle.

The best way to do this is to keep the ball flat. Russia aint going to stop bumping off ex-spies, they should have announced an enquiry, which would then examine all the evidence and report back at a time where it becomes page 10 news, whilst using back channels to get the Russians to be more discreet about bumping off their enemies. It's not like the UK or the US don't do the same thing.
