It does beg the question as to who isn't going to tax us to death! I'm no Tory fan and certainly didn't vote them in, but I did naively/selfishly think we might get some benefits out of them!

I wish they'd stop hiding behind this "tax incentivised incorporation excuse" - when I started contracting I did for the higher rates and flexibility and not being tied to all the permy drama/politics etc. When I got my first gig the agent clearly said to me "so are you LTD or umbrella?". He then went on to explain that I had to chose either unless he wanted me to let him fill the role with someone else. Obviously I chose the cheaper option of the 2...

But they will keep wheeling it out and hiding behind it...

Again... IT contractors are a special case subset of self-employed and 1-man Ltds. We don't represent the entire sector, and you don't even represent contractors. Saying nobody does it because you didn't proves nothing.

I will say that after I decided I wanted to work for myself I received a pleasurable surprise when I realised the taxation incurred. If you weren't breaking into the higher rate tax threshold you basically paid 20%CT or so, zero income tax, token NI (or was it zero?) AND you could make money off FRS - all without doing anything shady in the slightest.
With the dividend tax that has changed but we had it very good.

Labour will tax the entrepreneurs because they traditionally don't vote for them. As long as they can get the bone idle from Benefits Street to the polling station to maintain the status quo, they're happy.

Why do all you union jack waving BritNat F**knuts always whine about 'what labour would do'. They're not in power and are not likely to be in the near future. They didn't introduce the dividend tax, they didn't almost wipe out the allowance on said tax, they didn't tulip (from quite so high up) on the self employed or PSCs. They didn't introduce the new PS IR35 rules. Your business loving Tories are doing that now. I didn't hear any measures being put in place on evasion and avoidance by companies big enough to have their own lobby groups though, you know, the ones that your tory masters are shareholders in.

Add to this Tory Scum being totally in bed with Labour to pass "auto-enrolment" (National Insurance #3), how long would it take for them to say that it's not fair that employees are getting it, and self-employed don't?

Weak sterling would cause inflation to pick up very noticeably, enough to take spare money from people's pockets and cause another recession, and then Tory Scum might have to break their another manifesto promise about triple lock... oh wait no, they won't do that - so taxes would have to go up much higher.
