Good to see you have accepted the result regardless.

We have GEs every few years. On most occasions the majority don't get what they want but they accept it and get on with it.

By all means people should keep campaigning for what they believe in. What has been pathetic is the refusal of some to accept the result and to use their wealth to stop the result being enacted. That's the sort of thing that happens in dodgy first world dictatorships. .

That's possibly the daftest thing I've read on CUK for months, against pretty stiff competition (mostly from your other EU related posts!)

The above proves the lords are being bullied into voting in favour of the bill. There are also countless MP's who wanted to vote against but were not allowed by bullies and whips saying they had to perform their "patriotic duty" and vote for brexit

48% voted against Brexit and many people did not vote or were not allowed to vote because they were under 18 These have to be taken into consideration. So let's hope the Lords are not as scared for the bullies as the MPs and give it a real hard time
I think possibly the "vote as your constituency voted" forced 'free' vote might've been slightly more diplomatic but my default position is that I'm not a big supporter of the Whip in any case, really.

It was not a result you....

It was a campaign built on lies and false information. You can hardly call that democracy when the majority of Brexit voters believed they'd see more money for their health service, less immigration, and so forth.

You were lied to. And instead of taking umbrage you're lapping it up.

It is not uncommon for referendums to have such a skewing, especially when the choice is between changing or not. For example, votes on independence in various places have required 2/3 majority. A 60/40 win either way would have put the nail in the losers' arguments, pretty much. EU referendum: 'Anything less than 60/40 for remain puts Brexit back on the agenda'

It's to ensure that there's no arguments like "if you conducted the referendum now, you'd get a different result".

However, Cameron probably didn't want to do a 60% because it would have looked as if he was worried he'd lose. Once again demonstrating how he put his own political position before the good of the country.

Democracy has many forms and "all votes being equal" is only one of them. You seem very politically naive. You really should do some studying

Yes, mob rules. The mobiles being the majority in a one person one vote referendum.

Thankfully it's not the self-important, arrogant minority that will rule.
