unfortunately the reality we see is that they don't or can't.

Integration in Switzerland varies from place to place. Some villages require that you participate in the village life. Some that you don't have a criminal record, pay your taxes on time, know some Swiss history and have at least B1 in the local language.

If you are non-EU, the law changes soon so that you have to demonstrate local language proficiency in order to have your work permit renewed. You also have to have a language certificate to become a permanent resident.

Oaths for citizenship, sure. But otherwise seems a bit daft.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

At a national level I'm happy with clean record, Taxes & tested Language proficiency. Also an undertaking to follow UK law (so if they commit & are convicted of a serious offence they can be deported without appeal).

Why do you need to "undertake" to follow UK law? Shouldn't UK law just apply anyway?

Oaths and allegiances are not only a bit distasteful, they're also dumb. Does anyone think a terrorist or criminal won't be prepared to lie?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Because it is effective in the US.

Crimes That Will Make an Immigrant Deportable | Nolo.com

All immigrants, including those with green cards, can be deported if they violate U.S. immigration laws. The most common reason for people to be placed into removal proceedings is because there is evidence that they have been convicted of a crime.

Specifically, immigrants are at risk of being deported if they are convicted of either what is called a "crime of moral turpitude" or an "aggravated felony.” In addition, certain crimes are specifically listed as being grounds for deportation.
Currently we have to decide for them to be deported and they have an appeal, if it was part of the contract we wouldn't have to fund an appeal.

Or can but play the language card. My other half is a proper liberal type that welcomes all that need help etc etc but you should see her shouting at the screen at Police Interceptor programs when they young asian lad can't speak English, turns out he's actually got a Bradford accent and he's given a family members name. A 10 minute stop ends up being a couple of hours involving translators etc and all that happens is that he get's done for the initial offence. All the lies, false name, language issues just get brushed under the carpet. Drives her nuts. More entertainment than the actual program
