Unfortunately, this is also the argument racists/xenophobes/Islamophobes use to cover their poisonous out-pourings. Thank goodness there's no-one like that here, hey?Down with racism. Long live miscegenation! -
I'll read the article later (no time just yet), but I assume it mentions that ISIS was founded and is still controlled by Iraqi ex-intelligence officers put out of a job when the Septics de-Baathified Iraq after the Second Gulf War.Originally posted by CretinWatcher View Post
This is also worth a read, if the usual suspects can be rational for a while, and not follow the Islamic fundamentalists down the non-rational, emotional path
Mehdi Hasan: How Islamic is Islamic State?
Whether de-Baathification was a ghastly blunder depends on what US goals were and are, i.e. genuinely wishing to establish a stable democracy, as they claimed, versus destabilising the Middle East or Syria anyway.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment

just going for a little balance and supporting those people who can only shout racism when they can't contribute usefully to a discussion. Luckily there are so few of those on here as well.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostUnfortunately, this is also the argument racists/xenophobes/Islamophobes use to cover their poisonous out-pourings. I work on basic points. I just know that hurting innocent people by word or deed is wrong and lumping every muslim under this islamist violence banner is wrong.Originally posted by vetran View PostIts actually Islamophobia to be precise when we talk about fear of muslims.
Xenophobia is fear of those from different countries and possibly cultures.
Racism is specific to race - now how you define race then makes that so much more fun because everyone is apparently a different race. Including Travelers and the welsh.
To make reasonable fear of change or concerns over safety appear unpleasant it seems many people chant racism whenever someone a little different is involved.
Working on that basis gets me through the day."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

That's always been the British approach - hence partition. Get Johnny Foreigner to fight among themselves and they'll be too busy to attack us. Obv. doesn't always work, but a few acts of terrorism keep the population cowed and the security services get to play.Originally posted by OwlHoot View Post... versus destabilising the Middle East or Syria anyway.Down with racism. Wrong assumption.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostThe spaghetti monster is known to smite people who incorrectly prepare a carbonara sauce.
Racism to many covers all forms of xenophobia. On the other hand, when someone writes about Islam and also mentions the
colour of skin of the majority of Muslims, then racism is probably correct. It's all fuelled by fear and hatred of the different, so does it really matter?
The migrant are majority from Syria and they are considered Caucasian, they are not so white like the British (not so appeal to British) but they are white and not from a different race, except the Muslim from certain parts of Africa.
In my point of view the word racism it's wrongly appliedComment

said something about "brown skin". Just addressing that.
If someone who expresses hatred towards Muslims is wrongly called a racist, does that change the fact that the person is nasty little ****, whose noxious spewings should be shut down?
Hmm. Interesting set of results!Originally posted by minestrone View PostRacism is a Marxist construct.

I get very confused with what the term of the day is. I thought the Syrians in the main were refugees where as all the North African and many other countries just looking for a better life were migrants?Originally posted by Bee View PostWrong assumption.

We've got a local facebook group and a couple of people keep posting about collections for the refugees in Calais and the thread always descends in to chaos arguing over migrant/refugee and invariably ends up getting deleted.Last edited by northernladuk; 9 August 2016, 12:42.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!
