Actually the true, under £5K, guaranteed future classic, is the original XJR. A true 911, Ferrari eating saloon. I had an 8 YO one and it still shocked some M series owners. It does depend on the driver tho', but the car does encourage with it's stability and poise.

ZeitPater bought a Cresta of the same vintage.

It lasted all of 18 months before he replaced it with a Rover 90 P4 that actually worked as a car.


The Cresta looked pretty though.

I learnt to driver on a Rover 100 P4 sans working handbrake and seat belts.

On Tuesday I bought the missus a 2002 Mercedes CLK 230 Cabriolet with 96K miles, full history and good nick for £1550. In real terms the first owner paid round £45K. Proper bangernomics.
