But you're correct, my current R1 (1999 model, same as my first one) cost me 2.5k in 2009. Even though second hand, to match it's performance you'd need to be spending 10s of 1000s for a car
All very good until you slide into a tree at 60 mph. Then game over.

A car driver will walk away with some airbag dust on their face.

Yup, an A&E doctor used to look out the window on a wet day and say he was expecting quite a few organ donors in leathers.

Not really sure what these comments are meant to achieve, should I give up mountain biking in case I hit a tree and need time off my contract?

The comments are about motorcycling on a road and how dangerous it can be.

As for mountain biking, my wife has patched up quite a few people - normally it's elbow gashes where they have gone over the handlebars on a descent. It's not pretty.

Absolutely. Time off a contract is a no no. Being dead is an acceptable reason for not being at work.

                Depends on the client.

I was going to respond but I'll not bother.

But not for getting out of cross country at high school.

And quite rightly so, avoiding cross country at school is a crime, well should be ;-)
